We are currently recruiting for a General Manager, Economic Partnerships & Sustainability for our Campbell River Office in Campbell River, BC. The General Manager, Economic Partnerships will be responsible for pursuing long-term and mutually beneficial opportunities with First Nations to ensure access to fibre and support business certainty across Interfor’s Canadian operations. This successful candidate will develop strategic and proactive responses to sustainability trends to protect Interfor’s brand and relationships, land base stability and access to fibre and markets.


What You’ll Do

  • Provide strategic advice to the Company on forestry, environmental and First Nations issues that may impact First Nations opportunities and/or relationships.

  • Liaise with Interfor’s other operations to ensure consistent approach to First Nations opportunities and interests.

  • Provide leadership to First Nations team to achieve a low risk, 12-month operations plan.

  • Enroll First Nations partners in understanding and supporting our key business interests such as land base certainty and even log flow.

  • Represent Interfor in government working groups/initiatives in relation to First Nations forestry issues.

  • Coordinate with associations on policy objectives and opportunities to support Interfor’s goals relative to First Nations partnerships.

  • Develop and lead strategic responses to ongoing sustainability trends that align with Interfor’s partnerships with First Nations and protect the Company’s reputation.

  • Ensure effective First Nations and environmental regulatory frameworks by working with senior government and elected officials.

What You Offer

  • At least 10 years of experience public policy, especially related to First Nations and sustainability.

  • Experience working with First Nations to develop mutually beneficial outcomes.

  • Post-secondary degree in public affairs, business administration or forestry.

  • Strategic thinking, ability to assess opportunities and risks.

  • High degree of diplomacy.

  • Exceptional analytical skills.

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.

  • Business case development.

  • Demonstrated understanding of forestry, log supply and manufacturing.

  • Self-starter.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
